Pradeep Kumar Tarei
QualificationDr. Pradeep Kumar Tarei is an Assistant Professor in the area of Operations & Supply Chain at IIM Jammu. He has been serving IIM Jammu since October 2022. He has diverse work experience in corporate, teaching, research, and administration.
Dr. Pradeep started his professional career as a Programmer Analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions. After his PhD, he worked with B-schools like T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) Manipal and ICFAI Business School Hyderabad.
Dr. Pradeep teaches both core and elective courses, such as Business Statistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Research Methods, and Supply Chain Analytics, at the undergraduate and master level. He has also designed and delivered electives such as Advanced Statistical Analysis, Decision Sciences for Managers, and Warehouse and Distribution Logistics based on contemporary requirements of industries. His teaching philosophy emphasizes engaging students through fun, interactive, and gamification-based learning experiences, making complex concepts more accessible and enjoyable. He mostly uses HBS and Ivey cases to explain real-time business problems.
Dr. Pradeep is deeply passionate about research. His research interests include supply chain risk modeling, quantitative risk assessment, supply chain optimization, and decision-making under risk and uncertainty. He has published his research works in the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, Computers & Industrial Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Benchmarking: An International Journal. He has presented his research at various international forums, such as the Institute of Industrial & System Engineers (IISE) Annual Conference and Expo, Florida, and the European Conference on Operations Research (EURO), Dublin. He is currently working on implementing the drivers of Industry 4.0, such as IoT, ML, Big Data, Cyber-Physical Systems, etc., in the service industries. He welcomes any collaborative research opportunities in the domain of supply chain and operations management.
Currently, Dr. Pradeep holds the position of Chairperson - Alumni Relations. He has also previously held the post of Co-chairperson of Research & Publications. He has successfully conducted FDPs & MDPs as Programme Director.
