Conference Theme: HR, AI, and the Future of Work

Deliberations at IHRC 2027 are structured across nine comprehensive sub-theme tracks designed to address both the transformative potential and complex challenges of the digital era.

1 Human–AI Synergy: Transforming HR for the Intelligent Workplace
This track explores how artificial intelligence is transforming the human resource function by reshaping talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, and employee experiences. It welcomes research on AI-enabled talent acquisition, HR analytics, responsible AI and ethics in HR, AI bias and fairness in decision-making, AI and employee trust, creative intelligence, and innovative approaches that foster effective collaboration between humans and intelligent systems in the workplace.
2 Organization Change Management in AI-Driven Workplaces
The rapid adoption of AI and digital technologies demands organizations rethink traditional approaches to change. This track focuses on strategies for managing AI-driven transformation, including mergers, acquisitions and business restructuring, psychological readiness for digital change, resistance to AI-enabled change, digital transformation and organizational agility, workforce valuation, job and work redesign, cultural integration during change, and the transition towards Industry 5.0.
3 The Changing Workforce in a Digitally Connected and Hybrid Workplace
Advancements in technology have fundamentally altered workforce dynamics and employment relationships. This track invites research on changing work motivation, gig work, the platform economy, remote work, digital labour, trust and collaboration in hybrid work environments, and the transformation of organizational culture to support increasingly flexible, connected, and technology-enabled workplaces.
4 Emerging Trends in Talent Management
Organizations must continuously reinvent talent strategies to remain competitive in an evolving business landscape. This track encourages research on reskilling, upskilling, lifelong learning frameworks, learning agility, adaptive capability development, succession planning, internal mobility, leadership pipelines, competency framework redesign for Industry 5.0, managing layoffs and organizational reputation, and building future-ready talent, particularly within Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
5 Personality, Motivation & Career Psychology
Understanding the psychological drivers of work has become increasingly important in today's dynamic environment. This track focuses on the role of personality traits in predicting performance, adaptability and leadership, evolving perspectives on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, changes in the psychological contract, cognitive biases in hiring and performance evaluation, decision-making during crises and uncertainty, innovative reward and recognition systems, and evidence-based interventions that enhance employee engagement and career development.
6 Healthy Workplaces: Employee Well-being, Mental Health, and Work Psychology
Employee well-being is central to sustainable organizational success in the digital age. This track explores digital wellbeing interventions, burnout, resilience, stress management, workplace spirituality, meaningful work, technostress, digital fatigue, employability and career mobility in the AI era, occupational stress management, mental health support systems, sustainable work design, work-life integration, and the evaluation of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and other workplace interventions.
7 Redefining Leadership
Leadership is evolving in response to technological disruption, workforce diversity, and organizational complexity. This track welcomes contributions on strategic leadership, cultivating psychological safety, trust and organizational transparency, leadership effectiveness in dynamic environments, transformational, authentic, ethical and servant leadership, emotional intelligence in leadership, and cross-cultural leadership practices that enable organizations to thrive in the future of work.
8 Inclusive, Sustainable, and Responsible Organizations
Creating workplaces that are equitable, sustainable, and socially responsible has become a strategic imperative. This track focuses on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), inclusive leadership, workplace accessibility, neurodiversity, multigenerational workforces, the use of AI for inclusive workplaces, Sustainable HRM, ESG practices, responsible people management, and gender equity as key drivers of organizational effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
9 The Disruptive Side of HR
Emerging technologies and changing workplace dynamics have introduced new organizational challenges and ethical dilemmas. This track encourages critical discussions on the dark side of leadership, power and politics, quiet quitting, quiet firing and quiet thriving, algorithmic governance and AI surveillance risks, imposter syndrome in AI-driven workplaces, the digital class divide, ethical whistleblowing, retaliation, and other unintended consequences that are reshaping people management and the future of work.
