Dr. Kavita Yadav is an Assistant Professor of Business Communication at the Indian Institute of Management Jammu. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her doctoral research examines the linguistic choices made by newspapers while reporting the deaths of well-known public figures, with a focus on how language restructures, reaffirms, and positions social hierarchies. Her broader research interests lie at the intersection of discourse analysis, media studies, and professional communication, particularly in understanding how language shapes identities, institutions, and social realities.

She was a Fulbright Fellow at Ohio University, USA, where she taught Hindi as a Primary Instructor and engaged with courses in English Language Teaching and world language pedagogy. Her exposure to these pedagogical approaches continues to inform her teaching practice, particularly in designing learner-centred, communicative, and context-sensitive classroom experiences. During her Fulbright tenure, she also served as a Cultural Ambassador, collaborating with different departments, participating in Global Education Fairs, and organising academic and cultural events to promote Indian culture and the Hindi language within and beyond the university community.

Kavita has teaching experience across diverse educational settings in India and the United States. At IIM Jammu, she teaches Primary and Advanced topics in Business Communication and Professional Writing to BBA and MBA students. She is also actively involved in executive education, management development programmes, and professional communication training. She has conducted sessions for senior executives, government officials, defence personnel, and management students on areas such as executive presence, professional writing, leadership communication, interpersonal effectiveness, workplace influence, and presentation skills. Her training approach combines insights from linguistics, psychology, and management communication to help professionals communicate with clarity, credibility, and impact.

Alongside her teaching and research, she serves as Co-Chairperson of International Relations at IIM Jammu. In this role, she contributes to the internationalisation of the institute, including student and faculty mobility, academic collaborations, global institutional partnerships, and immersion programmes. Beyond academics, she is deeply interested in social inclusion and has worked extensively with children from underserved communities. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and occasionally participating in marathons.
