Advertisement for Special Recruitment Drive for Faculty positions in NC-OBC, SC, ST and DAP category

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, an Institute of National Importance, has been established by the Government of India, Ministry of Education in 2016 at Jammu. IIM Jammu is looking for dedicated and committed faculty members who believe in institution building and have passion for excellence.
Applications are invited for the following positions of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors in the areas of:

Business Communication Business Policy & Strategy
Entrepreneurship Economics & Business Environment
Finance and Accounting IT Systems & Analytics
Marketing Management Operations and Supply Chain
OB/HRM Business Law

Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to make relevant intellectual contribution to experienced and potential managers through teaching, training, research and published work. Candidates should have a strong academic background and understanding of current developments in the related field. Faculty members are expected to carry out research, design and teach courses, engage in institution development and conduct training program and undertake consultancy.

Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors

1. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Requirements for Faculty Positions

For academic positions, the qualification, experience, etc. shall be governed by the Ministry of Education guidelines.

Professor (Level 14A):

Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum 10 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 4 years post Ph.D. experience should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/ institutions of comparable standards. He/ She should have high research, training and consulting credentials.

  • Ph. D. with 10 years of post-Ph.D. experience in teaching/research/industrial experience of out of which 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/ institutions of comparable standards.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in Master's and Bachelor's degree.
  • MinimumTwo Papers in A*/A** Category Journals or Four Research Paper in "A - Category Journals" or Eight in "B – Category Journals"
  • Preference for FPM/Ph.D. guidance.

Associate Professor (Level 13A2):

Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum of 6 years of experience of which at least 3 years post Ph.D. experience should be at the level of Assistant Professor, and ability to interact with a diverse student body and executives, and ability to undertake research independently. Candidates from Industry (Government / PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of 6 years at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.

  • Ph.D. with six years of post-Ph.D. experience out of which 3 years should be as Assistant Professor at Level-12 or equivalent / Candidates from Industry (Government / PSU / Research Organization) having of post-Ph.D. experience of 6 years at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in Master's and Bachelor's degree.
  • MinimumOne Research Paper in A*/A** Category Journals or Two Research Papers in "A - Category Journals" or Four Research Papers in "B – Category Journals"
  • Preference for FPM/Ph.D. guidance.

Assistant Professor Grade I (Level 12):

Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum three years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research /industrial experience. Candidates from Industry (Government/ PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of 3 years at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.

  • Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with three years post-Ph.D. experience/ Candidates from Industry (Government/ PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of 3 years of post-Ph.D. experience at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master’s and Graduation Degrees
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in Master’s and Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum Two Research Papers in “B – Category Journals” or One Research Paper in “A –Category Journals” or above.
  • Preference for FPM/Ph.D. guidance.

Assistant Professor Grade II (Level 11):

Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum one year of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience. Candidates from Industry (Government/ PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of 1 year at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.

  • Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with more than one year of post-Ph.D. experience/ Candidates from Industry (Government /PSU/Research Organization) having experience of more than one year of post-Ph.D. experience at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master’s and Graduation Degrees
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in Master’s and Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum one Research Paper in “B – Category Journals” or above.

Assistant Professor Grade II (Level 10):

Fresh Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Candidates from Industry (Government/ PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of less than 1 year at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor. The candidate who has given the viva voce with the provisional award of Ph.D. may also apply.

  • Fresh Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with less than one year of post-Ph.D. experience. The candidate who has given the viva voce with the provisional award of Ph.D. may also apply.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master’s and Graduation Degrees
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in Master’s and Bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates with publication in Quality Journals will be preferred

 

Elevation of Assistant Professor (Grade - II) Level - 10 to Assistant Professor (Grade-II) Level – 11 to Assistant Professor (Grade-I) Level -12 will be done as per the IIM Jammu Rules. If any faculty member, appointed at L-10 or L-11, is not able to meet the criteria related to quality of teaching and publications, enough opportunity will be given to him/ her to improve during the probation period. However, if he/ she fails to meet the teaching and publication criteria during the probation period, his/ her services will be terminated as per IIM Jammu Rules.

Categorisation of Quality of Journal Publications

IIM Jammu follows Journal Quality categorization as below:

Equivalence of Journal Category will be as follow:

  • One Paper in A*/A** Rated Journal = Two Papers in A-Rated Journals=Four Papers in B -Category Journals
  • Two Case along with Teaching Note published in Harvard Case Publishing/ Richard Ivey/ Emerald will be considered equivalent to one paper in ‘B' - Category Journals.

The pay carries all other allowances such as DA (currently 28% of basic), Semi-furnished Leased Accommodation/HRA (18% of basic), LTC, Medical Allowance, Children Education Allowance, NPS, Reimbursement of Telephone Bills, Incentive for Research Publications, Faculty Development Fund for attending National and International Conferences, Membership of Professional Bodies etc. as per IIM Jammu Rules. Faculty members are permitted to pursue MDPs and Management Consulting as per IIM Jammu Rules.

  • Papers published ONLY in category Journals mentioned above in Web Advertisement will be considered for short listing of applications for regular/contractual positions.
  • Mere fulfillment of the above-mentioned qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for an interview.
  • The Institute reserves the right to consider and to fill or not to fill positions in any of the above/and or any other specialization(s). 
  • All qualifications must be from UGC recognized University/ Deemed University or AICTE approved autonomous institution (wherever applicable). The courses offered by autonomous institutions should be equivalent to the relevant course approved/ recognized by Association of Indian University (AIU).
  • Relaxation in qualification and experience/higher start in the time scale may be considered in the case of exceptionally bright candidates.
  • Candidates called for interview to fill a vacancy, may be considered for lower post if they are otherwise found suitable.
  • For regular appointment, there would be a probation period of 2 years.
  • Depending on the academic credentials of the candidate, the Institute may consider them for an offer on a contractual basis of one/two years.
  • Higher start in the pay scale may be considered in case of exceptionally deserving candidates. 
  • No correspondence/queries will be entertained from candidates regarding e-mail delays, conduct and result of interview, result of interview and reasons for not being called for the research seminar and interview. 
  • Reservation Policy will apply as per the Government of India Rules.
