Ana Beatriz L. D. Sousa

Qualification
Adjunct Professor, Operations & Supply Chain

Dr. Ana Beatriz Lopes De Sousa is presently at the University of Lincoln (UK) as a full professor of Supply Chain Management for Sustainable Development. She is passionate about understanding how organizations operate in supply chains and consequently about being able to make contributions to them for sustainable operations management. Her passion for this theme has guided her to be at the forefront of conducting research, teaching innovative modules, supervising my students zealously, and acting as a theme leader in research groups.

She has been a pioneer in studying and disseminating the theme ‘green supply chain’ in Latin America. And, as a consequence, she has organized the first international conference in ‘Green Supply Chain Management’ in Brazil at which Prof. J. Sarkis, the world-class and highly cited researcher, went to Brazil for the first time to be the keynote speaker. She has worked with international researchers from the USA, Denmark, Italy, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Colombia, and Brazil and organized special issues for outstanding Journals, for instance, the ‘Production Planning & Control’. She is an editor of the ‘Latin American Journal of Management for Sustainable Development’. Two out of her more than 96 articles published have been recognized by Thomson Reuters/Web of Science as the most cited 1% of articles in the field of engineering.

She has proposed and delivered the first module in the field of ‘green supply chain management and organizational theories’ for masters and Ph.D. courses in Brazil. She has been responsible for delivering classes on ‘Supply Chain’ for international bachelor students and on ‘Sustainable Supply Chain’ for the MSc in Supply Chain Management in Montpellier Business School.

She has served as coordinator of one of the best undergraduate courses in Production Engineering & Management in Brazil.

And acted as the theme leader of the MSc courses in Supply Chain Management at the University of Strathclyde and some of her responsibilities were to liaise the renewal the accreditation of the MSc courses with Chartered Institute for Procurement and Supply (CIPS) & the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (CILT); and to revamp the curriculum of that MSc courses.
